Working on two web sites at once is challenging. Today is a photography day for both Posie stuff and vintage stuff for Calico Balloon, which I'm hoping to launch sometime in December. Unfortunately, this weather makes it tricky to get good light, but what can you do. At least it's not pouring.
This is a photo I took for my new friend Whitney, a working artist who makes gorgeous cake plates and other truly beautiful things out of clay, very understated and lovely things. Please behold her dogwood blossoms waiting to be attached to vessels:
Goodness me. How pretty is that. Just looking at them makes me happier, and I'm a bit of a grump today, so this is good.
Those dogwood flowers are lovely! And you know, you always take the prettiest photographs!
i guess talent is attracted to talent...i just zoomed thru whitney's site adn she makes such beautiful things!
Sorry you're in a grump slump :( The weather doesn't help, does it.
Best of luck with your photography today. You're right about Whitney's pottery. It's lovely :)
Josh keeps asking me what I want for xmas... now I know. Her pottery is divine.
Sorry you're in a mood. Hope it passes quickly.
I'm having a hard time getting motivated. I should be in the studio creating new techniques but it's such a mess I can't bear it... and the drabbiness of the day isn't helping.
I put Carmina Piranha on... their mood seems to match mine.
Good day Alicia... hopefully someone will put a big smile on your face today!
cheer up sunshine. whitney's pottery is gorgeous. i particularly love the Carved Poppy Pod vase. thanks for sharing, as usual.
I love dogwood blossoms, so Spring. A nice distraction on a gloomy rainy day.
Ooh, those are so pretty!
Oohh..What amazing work! Soo great! Thanks for sharing!
Cannot wait for Calico balloon!! Quite possibly one of the greatest names ever!!
Hope you find something fun in your day!
xoxo Jenny
Thanks for the link! I'm always looking for blogs by ceramicists. They give me inspiration for my someday. Her work is beautiful!
oh my, oh my...those truly are lovely. Hope the funk passes over there!
Dearest Alicia, even when you are grumpy :)...you totally brighten my day with your daily blog. I log in at my desk, and just dream for a while. Your way of expressing yourself with your photos of whimsey is truly enchanting!!! I am forever, a loyal fan..
did i already tell you i love your new banner? i cant remember, but it never hurts to get compliments more than once. looking forward to calico balloon, and am in LOVE with whitney's girly collection
oh i love the dogwood blossoms...being from the south and all. :)
So glad to see you mention Calico Balloon and hear that's it slated to make its debut soon. Can't wait! I need to squirrel some pennies away for that.
Beautiful flowers!! I can't wait for your new website and your updated one. That is for sure a lot of work! Enjoy the sunshine!
Oh, your photos are always so beautiful and rosy. I don't even take out the camera when it's raining here in the UK, everything just turns out grey!
:( I hope your funky mood left. At any rate those are purty flowers!
OK, so I saw the dogwood blossoms before I read about them in your post and I actually said out loud something like "You're kidding, she makes those TOO!?!?" You already defy explanation, in the best way.
Good luck with the updating. The sun came out for 5 minutes today. I can't get a decent photo of anything.
those dogwood blossoms are beautiful!

Hope you are feeling cheery soon. It will happen :)
I'm so looking forward to seeing your new site...you are always full of wonderful ideas!
Everyday I am inspired by your photo's and your projects - I can't wait to see the new site!
I have lived in California most of my life, but the year I spent in Virginia introduced me to the dogwood and I don't think I'll ever be the same.
What could be better than a tree that is fabulously green in summer, brilliant red in fall, bare and covered in snow in winter and then blooming pink and white in spring?
Having grown up with only two seasons (tourist- and off-), I was taken in completely by this charming tree which will forever represent the wonderful year we spent on the east coast.
Your pix of these homemade blossoms take me right back.
