Spring Cleaning Begins (and Not So Much)

Nightstand3

Thank you again for all the thoughtful and generous comments this week! So nice. I am gonna take the day off and maybe just totally lounge about this weekend, and recharge, even though there's some spring cleaning that really needs to start taking place around here. But I don't feel like it. I'd actually like to climb back into bed right now.

We are getting new carpet upstairs in TEN DAYS. Well, it's been nine years and TEN MORE DAYS that I've been waiting, and the carpet guy said the carpet we have looks like it's about twenty-five years old. Gross. I can't wait. This is my first-ever carpet buying experience. We are getting a really pretty color of wool, sort of a pale-but-warm beige, from Marion's (and they have a 10% off coupon for all materials through March 31, if you're in the market). It looks like little blobs of orzo pasta. Andy met Carpet Carl yesterday at Marion's and he was pretty excited. I was just excited that we were getting carpet in ELEVEN MORE DAYS (that was yesterday). I think I'll do a jig.

You are so cute! I do a jig when I'm happy too ~ the hubby calls it my "dance of joy", it's one of his favorite things, he's actually been known to request it! I am so excited for your new carpet, yeah! Who doesn't love that? If you decide to "chill" this weekend, make sure you enjoy it to the fullest, and that doesn't include ANY guilt! Just remember, you are a treat, so treat yourself!;)

I think it's hard to make house decisions because there is so much to choose from. You're lucky, you just had to choose carpet. I'm remodeling an entire house.

That picture makes me want to do some spring cleaning. Or at least redecorate my room. I love the cheerful feel in the picture!

If my room looked like that I probably would crawl back into my bed. That looks absolutely lovely.

That's exciting! I have only bought carpeting once, for the stairs in our house in Milwaukee. I picked out a floral pattern that had a gold color in it so you couldn't see the cat barf on it :-) Our entire upstairs here is carpeted and I would love to replace it, but don't know what to do about the furniture. Do the carpet installers move it? I think I'd wait with the cleaning till the carpet is installed...there's sure to be some messiness involved!

I love your room...

What a cute picture! I love all your linens!! Just beautiful...

I'm so jealous. My carpet is only 13 years old, so maybe after 12 more I can get new carpet. LOL.

Lucky you! I'm just itching to get new carpet, at least downstairs, but it may not happen for awhile.

Love, love, love that pic. Makes me that much more excited to get my bird kit!

you're so funny. the joys of home ownership! NEW CARPET SQUEEEEE! that pompon fringe makes my heart do the happy dance too.

Hooray for you! Very fun.

i love your pom poms. oh wait, that sounds weird. on the pillow, silly. forget the spring cleaning now, you'll have to do it again after you get the new carpet. go outside and have fun!

Well, you know, Spring isn't even officially here yet, so you have plenty of time for cleaning!
Have I told you how much I love the inside of your house? I do, I do.
Have a lovely, restful weekend.

I sit here and smile ~ your excitement is palpable. I love it when I find other folks who get as tickled as I do about what some might find mundane. My biggest excitement as of late was a set of shelves in the basement...just for me, just for stockpiling. I kept running to the basement to look at them. Now they are filled. Ah, contentment. Enjoy your new carpet; we look forward to sharing your joy.

LOL!!! I would be T-O-T-A-L-L-Y stoked to meet Carpet Carl!!!! :-)

hooray for new carpet! when we got ours, it totally changed my life. seriously.

Excuse me. From all of your pictures around your house, I think you are me. Except you have these wonderful books that you've created, and you have that cute dog, Clover Meadow!
I have very cute dogs too, but yours just matches what you post!!!

Every picture that you've posted of your home looks so lovely. I've always wanted to know where you've come across your linens and other fabrics. Are they all vintage, things you've made yourself with fabric from the store? I love your pillow cases and quilts. The floral patterns are just so dainty!

Aloha =) Just discovered your blog through Little Cotton Rabbits, looking forward to reading more.

Spring cleaning = dull. Bed = brilliant. And that there is your answer!

I have carpet being installed on Tuesday...ISN'T IT GREAT!! I can't wait to lay down and roll around on it...hee hee...I'm giddy!! xo

No new carpets here, but spring carpet cleaning is due...next best thing! I love that little pillow with the pom poms...so sweet. Did you make it? If that was my room, I would crawl back into bed too.
Enjoy your weekend.

Is it odd that looking at that precious pom-pom pillow makes my jaws clench just a bit in joy as if I'd taken a bite of really rich and delectable cheesecake? And yes, the cheesecake has chocolate on it. :)

Relax and enjoy . . . just let the moments pass with nothing but mindless, happy thoughts.
