The Christmas Boxes

Why is it that the moment they come up from the basement, it feels like you were just packing them away not five minutes before? The year folds up, and touches corners. . . .

that's when you pause and take photos and then remember all the memories sandwiched in between. like the time you and andy fell in the door trying to rescue the puppers. man that was priceless.

Oh Posie! You put it so perfectly! :)

Couldn't have said it better...

Have fun with your decorating - can't wait to see what you do with those lovely little trees!

And with all of those precious festive memories of past Christmases.

...and how is it that hidden away in the attic those holiday boxes seem to multiply, year after year?

oh yes, yes it does :)

You’re so right!

Love the decoration stuff in the box!

Beautiful little trees, and I know what you mean, we just packed this stuff away.

So very well described...xx

"the year folding up and touching corners" reminds me so much of John Crowley's Little Big

I love your little pink tree. Is it vintage?

Really interesting thought, the year folding up really made me stop and think, you are right it does feel like that.

Sue

dang I love those little bottle brush trees!

I didn't even bother putting my Christmas boxes in the attic last year. There still in my spare bedroom. Now that's either lazy or genius.

Just wait, little one, just wait...This year is my 56th Christmas and time just keeps speeding up. I love getting out the Christmas boxes...finding old friends.

YES!!! Totally totally agree with you, every single year I get that same feeling. :)

That's a lovely looking Christmas box!

Exactly how I feel. "Wrinkle In Time" was one of my favorite books as a youngster, and I always think of it whenever I get that feeling of two points in time folding up and coming together.

interesting how we always think we have plenty of time......but....

I discovered your blog at Christmas last year. So, this is my "Posie Gets Cozy" reading anniversary! I am so, so, so excited to see your decorating. Seriously, my fiance hears about this at least every other day now! And I've been crossing my fingers that Portland will get snow again this December.

so, so true!Happy Holiday season to you!

And then there are the things you unpack and you think Why didn't I just throw that away last year? -or- Why didn't a pack suchandsuch in the same box as the soandso?

Those trees are adorable!
Where did you get them?

Ohhhh the excitment!! Our's are coming out at the weekend and I am like a kid just thinking about it!

How's Clover? Can Clover come out to play?

exquisite turn of phrase, Alicia. You're so right. It hasn't quite felt like that time of year to me, but somehow putting the right words to it begins to tip the scales toward holiday spirit =)
