Some Pioneerish Books

We don't do things small here in the Wild West. It's go big or go home. So I got me a biiiiiig buncha books.

I just got home. I was going to sit down and read one of these but instead I got the urge to knit a bunny. So weird when that happens (when you're about to read but then you find yourself knitting a bunny). I know you know what I mean.

I know precisely what you mean. :)

Well...isn't it the year of the bunny? These things are just bound to happen.

Loved Angle of Repose!

OOH! Book reviews please. With limited time to allow for reading, knitting, quilting, other fun stuff, due to work. Your taste in reading material will be as sound as every-thing else you do.nw

please please, can we see the bunny? I love knitted bunnies.

You have got to read Annie Dillard's "The Living". It is one of the best books I have read.

Absolutely! :)

Angle of Repose is one of my very VERY favorites. a good long read...

I've been collecting Ivan Doig books to read soon ever since I heard an interview on Diane Rehm. They're about life in Montana many moons ago.

Alicia, could you post a list of your pile o' books? I'd love to know what you wound up getting. (And I, too, love Wallace Stegner!)

Stegner & Doig are both the best--time well spent

Ha! I was planning on reading yesterday but instead knitted on an otto bear

i definitely know what you mean :)

Ha! I think I do know what you mean! LOL!!!
I read Angle of Repose and loved it! I totally forgot about that book, but you'll love it!

Wallace Stegner is the best, and Angle of Repose is one of HIS best. One of my favorite books of all time. I look forward to your thoughts on the others as well.

i love stegner. angle of repose is awesome!

that is my life....that's why i'll never have a real job. xo

I have those moments also when I want to do one thing but I end up doing something totally different. I try not to figure that one out.

oh so many books to read - i might have to get my hands on some of those too, after i read little home on the prairie again.

Funny this is I do know what you mean!

Stegner's Angle of Repose is one of the best books I have ever read. Enjoy all those goodies!

Oh, you will love Sara Donati's Into The Wilderness series. It's one of those books that you wish you hadn't read yet, so you could discover it all over again.

It is like stepping back into history and the series gets better as you go along. Hope you enjoy it!

wow, wow, wow! your local bookstore must be happpeeee! Looks like some great reading, I have read most of those and you will like them I think.

Into the Wilderness is one of my favorite books!

Oh, Sara Donati. LOVED those books. And the #2 in the series includes characters briefly from another series I love - Outlander by Diana Gabaldon which is from about Culloden through the American fight for independence. Again, love!

That stack looks like a good one.
