Very, very excited about all of the sampler enthusiasm — thank you so much! I am thrilled. We will talk!

It's my birthday tomorrow, so I made myself a wee little birthday cake. And took a big huge picture of it. :-)

Happy Birthday! That cake is gorgeous, and I seriously love and covet that cake stand. wow!

Happiest of Birthdays, Alicia!

happy birthday, sweet one! thank you for you! every morning instead of reading the local paper, I read your blog among many others who post and bring me into their lives. You and Andy & Co still need to come down and walk our hazelnut orchards. I was the one who sent you the pics of our wedding in our oldest orchard.
LOVE the birthday cake that you made for yourself!
with love!

best birthday wishes!! your cake---yum!!

Happy Birthday - the cake looks amazing!

Happy happy birthday Alicia.

Your photos are just so very beautiful. The colours, just everything, I can't help going back to them. There is a mood to them, they are dense, real I can't explain it. I want to hop into the picture and nestle there and look around. I love the colours of your knitting, quilts and your home. They are so intensely beautiful. I have noticed over the years your colour palette is changing ever so slightly. It would be great if you could give a list of the colours you love and your personal favourites. The photo of your cake is just gorgeous!!! Have a happy day :)

Happy birthday Alicia!mine is next Wednesday on the 11th.
The cake looks gorgeous - I copied one of your pretty cakes last year - the decoration not the cake. See:http://www.livinginthekingdomoftoomuch.com/2011/01/cake.html

Happy birthday and best wishes for a year of wonderful happy surprises. You cake looks fantastic!!

oops *your cake*

Happiest of Happy Birthdays to you, Alicia!

Your little cake is so darling! Love the cake stand, too!

Did you use 6-inch pans?

Happy Birthday, Alicia!!!

From one "goat" to another it seems (mine's in late December). The cake is gorgeous, adorable and seems to be so YOU! Forget the samplers, you are getting dangerous with the camera -- can you say food stylist?

Last week when we headed to Toast for my birthday dinner they were closed (such a family guy wanting some days off after Christmas) so we ended up at a Cena in Sellwood -- pasta perfection! Ate at the bar and had the greatest time! But tonight (we somewhat regularly go out on Friday nights) hubby wanted to try St. Jack on SE 20th and Clinton. I am mentioning this just in case you have not been there and perhaps love French food. Again, we just popped in and sat at the bar (often more fun than a table even when you aren't drinking much -- and we don't) OMGoodness! So delicious. Very French and rich and with service heaven (adorable bartenders) and perfectly executed dishes. Not for the faint of heart (lotsa butter and bacon lardons, etc..) And a wonderful list of very birthday like cocktails!! ;o)

Wishing you some warm spots of sunshine tomorrow!

Oh my goodness, what an absolutely gorgeous little cake! Have a happy, happy birthday tomorrow Alicia. xo

A very happy birthday to you! Have you read 'Wildwood' by Colin Meloy yet? If not, you must! It's set in Forest Park. Pick a copy up at Powell's--they even have a super schmancy special edition. Then visit Pittock Mansion and check out the sampler in one of the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. It's beyond precious.

Happy birthday Alicia! a beautiful cake for a beautiful person x
love jooles x

That cake is wonderful, I´ll try to remember how it looked until the next time I´ll make one. :-)

Happy birthday! :-)

Oh that cake looks like the perfect remedy to a January birthday, so pretty. It's mine tomorrow and I'm having mini Victoria sandwiches :O) I hope you have a great day, Alicia xxx

Happy birthday! I love tiny candles but they become a safety hazard once you get to my age. Fingers crossed for a good year this year.

Dear Alicia, have a wonderful birthday and may the year ahead bring you evey happiness. Your cake is perfection, all fairy tale like. I can imagine little red riding hood carrying it to her grandmother. Your decorations have made it into such a beautiful piece of art.

Happy Birthday Alicia- I think that is the lovely cake recipe you posted a while ago. I tried it at the time and it was great- I never had the nerve for the frosting though. I should try it! The photo is so lovely. I wish you bright blessing for 2012. Jo xx

Happy Birthday! Your cake looks amazing.
