My heart is so full it's hard to speak. We have adopted a baby girl. We were honored and privileged to be asked by her luminous birthmother and her gentle birthfather to attend her birth. That moment, and the four days we spent in a hospital room with them and their family and friends were the most incredible, and humbling, of my entire life. This baby was born into the most beautiful circle of people I can possibly imagine, and both Andy and I are in continuous awe of their tremendous strength, courage, and incredible love. Our gratitude is boundless. Her birthgrandfather took this picture of Mt. Hood at sunrise on the morning of her birth. It made me cry when I saw it on his camera, and it makes me cry now to look at it again. It is a symbol of an auspicious beginning.

Welcome, welcome, welcome dear, sweet, precious, exquisite, wonderful, wonder-full Amelia. I love you more than I can say.

I've been busy at school and not read blogs for the past few months - sat down tonight and saw you had adopted a sweet baby girl. I am so happy for you! I was so very sad for you when you went thru the loss last year so very happy to see such a sweet baby! Your's is the first blog I ever read and have read it for years. You will be wonderful parents! Blessings to the three of you plus animals this Christmas. So happy for you!

Just popped into your blog and discovered the wonderful news, congratulations!

Welcome to parenthood Alicia and Andy. So happy for the both of you and Amelia is the luckiest little lady to have such a beautiful and lovely family. Best Wishes to you all!

Wow! I haven't visited your blog in a while and then arrived to such a beautiful after post with the most adored baby in the world. Congratulations!!

After months and months of work and not having time to catch up on blogs, I finally carved out a little spot of today to do so. I've missed hearing your voice these past few months...and so the first (most recent) post I came across had a picture of this darling little girl named Amelia. I just spent the past hour reading up on the past few months of your life, and I am sobbing with joy for you.
From the bottom of my heart, Congratulations, Alicia and Andy. I am so so so happy for you (even if it is, forgive me, all these months later!). I am overjoyed for you. I've been in the adoption process for more than a year now and will probably spend several more years waiting. It is agony, but seeing good kind wonderful people like you bring home the beautiful Amelia gives me hope - and tremendous joy for you. I know she is in the most wonderful home in the world, that she will be loved every single day. Congratulations - we've never met, but you are like a friend to me through your blog, and I am just so happy for you. Tears and love and joy and happiness, jill

An answer to prayer! How very blessed you are and I'm so happy for you!

I'm SO very, very happy for all of you *hugs*

Well, I was in my own world for a good while there (as one does) and had been meaning to drop in. And then I did and there it was, a photo of a beautiful (no really, BEAUTIFUL) baby girl on your blog. I'm not entirely surprised, but I'm so, so relieved. And happy. Never were two people more ready to be parents than you and Andy. Lots and lots of love to you and your growing family! And now I have some catching up to do. :)

I haven't been by in quite some time and was flipping through my reader tonight only to find a post featuring your beautiful new daughter. My heart was bursting with this news of her arrival - congratulations to you and your husband!

Your beautiful babe is months old now, positively an expert at this life thing, so this message of congratulations is extremely late. But - congratulations. I've enjoyed reading your blog, looking at your beautiful pictures, wishing I lived just down the road so we could meet for tea. Then I had a baby (Desmond) in July 2012 and life got busy, then I went back to work and life got busier and just today I hit my hand to my head and I thought - I wonder how that sweet woman is doing?? And - miracles and wonder and joy explode - you are a mother and your family is beautifully navigating family-ness. I'm so happy for you. Really so very happy. Amelia is a dream come true - a beauty and a delight. Congratulations to all of you. Your joy has made my life more joyful - and thank you for making it so.

OMGoodness! I am so behind in reading blogs, so imagine my surprise when I saw that you had a sweet baby girl in your made me cry. You don't even know me, but yet I was so touched. Your little one will always be surrounded by love. Congratulations!!

About two years ago I used to blog regularly and yours was one of my must reads. Then things slipped and I stopped reading blogs so much. Today I stumbled back upon you and I am so very pleased to see that not only has Amelia entered your life but she's now over a year old! My hugest hugest congratulations to all of you, the smile on my face when I landed on your homepage and saw a picture of her smiling out at the world was a mile wide
