My heart is so full it's hard to speak. We have adopted a baby girl. We were honored and privileged to be asked by her luminous birthmother and her gentle birthfather to attend her birth. That moment, and the four days we spent in a hospital room with them and their family and friends were the most incredible, and humbling, of my entire life. This baby was born into the most beautiful circle of people I can possibly imagine, and both Andy and I are in continuous awe of their tremendous strength, courage, and incredible love. Our gratitude is boundless. Her birthgrandfather took this picture of Mt. Hood at sunrise on the morning of her birth. It made me cry when I saw it on his camera, and it makes me cry now to look at it again. It is a symbol of an auspicious beginning.

Congratulations!! I'm so glad I decided to get onto my RRS Reader today. Your long wait is finally over- you have the most beautiful daughter! Adoption is a wonderful thing.

C'est merveilleux votre histoire... Plein de bons voeux de France...

I'm sending so much love to you three right now. I have been thinking about you many times over the past few months, Alicia. It's so good to hear this news and see so many of your beautiful moments with her. A month old now! Oh those times are so fun. Congratulations.

Wow. I haven't checked in here in awhile and just read this news. I am over the moon for you. Such a sweet, precious time. So happy.

So, so happy for you A. I'll just have to read through all the posts from here to the present date.

My heart is swelling.

She is beautiful.

I'm a little late - a lot of things to do and little time for blog reading. But tonight, on a whim, I finally checked back here - and what a beautiful surprise! I don't think I can find appropriate words...I couldn't when my little sister had her baby boy this spring, and I don't think I can now, since, how do you describe a miracle? But...all the best to all of you. Little Amelia already seems to be graced with many, many good and important things, a loving family right at the top of the list. :)

OMG!!!! Congratulations!!! She looks exactly like my baby girl when I had her!! Big babies eat well and sleep well,,,my baby always has, never any sleep problems. I am so so so happy for you both!! its a hard but rewarding job and true mothers are the ones with the biggest hearts, its a job of love and sacrifice. You were born for this little life with her perfet rosebud lips! just so sweet!! I am teary and over the moon for you both!!! Enjoy!!xxxx all my love from Australia!!xxx

I've been a stalker for so long and I just signed in to see what you were up to for the first time in a bit... This wonderful news has made my morning. So very happy for you and Andy. You just seem like you were meant to be parents. I absolutely love your blog and I cannot wait to see the wonderful adventures you have with beautiful sweet Amelia. Congratulations.

I am so late to this, but many congratulations! She is such a lucky girl to have you as her family. Best wishes.

I haven't visited your blog in awhile and today, Thanksgiving, I had a few minutes of down time and for some reason, took a click over because I knew it would be full of Fall wonderfulness. I am beyond happy for you and truly understand the word GRATITUDE today. What blessings, what joy...what a beautiful, little girl and her family. All best wishes, today, and always.

Oh wow! I haven't read in a few weeks, but what wonderful news to catch up with! So, so many congratulations to you all. Welcome to the world Amelia! Xxx

It's been a while but I thought on a wet London afternoon I'd pop and see what you were up to and soak up some beauty - your photos always make me feel lifted. And then. A baby. Reading back a few posts and I'm in tears. She's a poppet. Congratulations. Must go and get a tissue!!

Oh joy! I am just in tears, tears of absolute and sheer joy. I have been following your blog for years. I have been praying for a baby for you and Andy for nearly just as long. I am without words right now. You just came across my mind, and oh, I am just blurry eyed with tears of joy for you. Thrilled. Absolutely thrilled. Best news all day!

So, so wonderful. I am so thrilled for you. What a beautiful life you'll have together. x

Long time lurker coming in late to see this.....congratulations to you and your family! I have been on my own baby journey, currently fostering with the hope of adoption. But had been keeping my fingers crossed that your baby dreams would come to pass as your nursery was created. Best wishes!

Hopefully you're still reading comments on this post! It must be strange, people you haven't met being so happy for you. But add me to the list anyway :) I've been reading you for years and have been struggling with my own infertility issues for the past few. My long-awaited son was born in August and I'm just now catching up with my blogs, so when I hopped on here today and saw your beautiful girl I was elated!

Congratulations from one new momma to another. I don't have many girlfriends with babies so it's really sweet to share this with a blogger I "know". It's difficult sometimes but those precious little hands and feet are worth it. Best wishes to you all.

I have not visited your blog in many weeks, for no particular reason other than it's been busy, and I was so excited to see Amelia's smiling face. So many blessings!! :) I wish you, Andy, and Amelia the most heartfelt congratulations! Best wishes to you and your family! We have been through the adoption process, and I know it's not easy, but WOW what a wonderful ending! :) Hugs xo

Touched to tears to read of your beautiful, sweet Amelia! Enjoy the wonderful journey of parenting; of being a mother, of having your heart cracked open again and again!

Auguri!!! I'm sitting here in tears and sniffling at your dreams coming true! My co-worker thinks I'm nuts. I finally had a few minutes to read blogs which I haven't been able to do for more months than I can believe and I'm thrilled that your little blessing has arrived. She's gorgeous! As other readers have mentioned I'm sure, it feels like we're friends or family even, as we have kept up with your lives. I'm beyond thrilled that your family circle has been completed and hope and pray that you encounter many more blessings in life. Your joy and thankfulness resonate through your words and is visible through your pictures. XO

oh my gosh, alicia,

i am beyond joyous for you and andy. tears are in my eyes.

so much happiness. love + joy to you all!

I know it is 2 months later and I have even posted on some other posts about how beautiful she is, but I wanted to let you know Congratulations. A child is such a blessing and how wonderful it will be for her to know that you chose Her. Many blessings towards a life full of laughter, pain, joy and growth, all of what children bring.

I'm so glad I found this post! How wonderful! My cousins just adopted a beautiful baby boy (what a story that is!). They are waiting to adopt a baby from Ethiopia and were not expecting to be parents for another year or 2. This past Black Friday, whilst shopping, Meghan got a phone call to 'get up to the hospital'. A Wee Lad had just been born and the birthmother was not happy with any prospective parents. For 'some reason', Meghan and Andrew popped into the social worker's mind. The birthmother adored them *natch!* and they were parents 24 hrs later! *whoa*

"Amelia" is a particular favorite name of mine. A beautiful name for a beautiful little girl!

I'm so incredibly late to this party, it has been a couple of months (as you can see) since I've caught up on my favorite blogs, but I still wanted to get a chance to wish you all congratulations! What a sweet, sweet surprise to come back to see that you two have added such a precious little darling to your family! She's exquisite.
