First Snow

Late on a foggy afternoon we drove out to the woods. Had dinner at the Skyway and spent the night at a little cabin. The next morning we went up to Timberline Lodge for breakfast and spent the day playing in the snow. Her first time. I will never, ever forget it. Man, what a great day. My dream come true.

(Other trips to Timberline are here and here. [Josh and Keels have little kids now, too, but next year I think we should all go up together again and stay at the lodge — there's just nothing like sleeping up there.] Mimi's sweater and hat are on my Ravelry page, and her mittens [when she would agree to wear them!] are on Gillian's.)

ok, the photo of her holding the mini snowman? priceless!

So fun, sweet and adorable. Amelia looks like she is enjoying herself!

Lovely photos! It looks beautiful.

A www, those pictures of her and her tiny snowman-just the sweetest. Looks like it was a wonderful trip!

Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures. I'm craving some decent snow!

How sweet is her little snowman baby???

Oh, wow. So much joy in such a tiny package. Thank you *so* much for sharing - such a sweet glimpse into your incredible world.

The pictures where Amelia is clutching her snow-baby dolly are priceless. I was reminded of stories I used to read both when I was a child and also to my daughter about a very naughty doll called Amelia Jane(!) by Enid Blyton She made a little baby out of snow and was very sad when it melted. I loved Amelia Jane, she was very naughty though!

Wonderful pictures, Amelia is always in her element outdoors it seems, she just glows with fun and happiness. Absolutely charming.

She is a beauty and your pictures are wonderful.

Looks like you guys were up in my neighbourhood again. <3 Skyway is fun. We have breakfast the Timberline a lot. It's where we got married. That picture of the trees, that's my favourite. I think they almost look like feathers.

Oh boy!! I loved every minute with you all up there in the snow and also in the cozy places. I **LOVE** the little snowman and apparently so did Mimi! I was wondering how you got her to let loose of it? I've never dined at that restaurant, but you can bet that I want to now. Were the roads clear to the lodge? I wanna go! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Living in the Pacific Northwest myself, I covet ANY day with ANY amount of snow. Glad you went out and found some (lol). I love Mimi's first snowman and how she is holding it on the sled like a dolly. So cute. These are glorious pictures, Alicia. The scenery ... breathtaking.
PS I am also secretly coveting Mimi's sled.

Oh my word. Such delight on her face! There's nothing like it!

A dream come true!
How wonderful.
She really IS a most adorable child.

Awesome photos as per usual. But how cute is the photo of your beautiful girl, in the cart with her perfect it.

I want a mini snowman to carry around too.

There are times when your photos take my breath away. Today was one of those times. Thank you as always for sharing.

The photos of your little girl have a timeless feel to them, very sweet. My daughter is Amelia as well and 40 now, named after my grandmother who was Elsa Amelia. Thanks for sharing the beauty in your life through your photos.

awwww- so sweet- hugging that wee snowman!

goodness, the 'widdle' snowman pictures are soooo cute. what an idyllic spot. what fun. i wish they made an adult sled like that. thank you for the post, alicia.

I just can't stop smiling! So, so precious! Her holding her little snowman so proudly, her handknits...she looks right at home in that beautiful snow. :)

So lovely those four dream came true. Love the pic of her cradling her snowman and of your hubby and her playing in the snow. Memories to treasure.

Stunning! Thank you so much for sharing with us.

Loving the simplicity of a weekend story told in photos. Just as sweet as a giddy toddler in the snow for the first time.

Want to swap houses for a while? Living close to London, we hardly ever see scenes like this. It must be heavenly to jump in the car and end up somewhere like Mt Hood. I've put it on my Places to Visit Someday list.
