Afternoon at the river, which we had (gloriously) all to ourselves, until Amelia said, "Home!" and put on her own shoes and started walking by herself across the sand back toward the car :: Dark storms and ruby-glowing dogwood trees :: Andy-made chocolate chip cookies from this recipe, and they were indeed very good (Denise's suggestion — thank you, Denise!) :: A rhubarb pie from this recipe, which is delicious (if you like goo, which I do) :: A spinach souffle from this recipe which I thought was just . . . meh (needs more spinach, less egg, in my opinion) :: A chocolate cake from this recipe (which has replaced Hershey's Deep Dark for me — this one is better, and you can let the kiddos lick the spatula because, no eggs [irony]!) and our favorite frosting :: Cake baked by me and decorated by Meems (which made Andy laugh his head off when he got home and saw it) :: An attempt to take a photo of the vest, of which I am already knitting another, as this thing is just what I've been wanting :: Going out to get a columbine plant, a dozen more eggs to bring to the Easter egg hunt tomorrow, and Thai food for lunch with my dearest, darling, sweetest, most wonderfully wonderful girl.

Wishing you all a truly joyful weekend filled with love and springtime things! Xoxoxoxo

how did that adorable girl keep her adorable shirt clean with that chocolate spatula? So funny!

Love her cake decorations! My son wanted to make Easter basket cupcakes this year and it was so nice to turn the iced cupcakes over to them and let them go to town.

Oh glorious day! Your posts and pics always take me to such a happy place. Thanks so much for sharing. You are such an inspiration to me.

The best decorated Easter cake ever. Love the vest.

Just ordered my kit, super excited can't wait, stepping out of my comfort zone, most lovely kit Alicia as always xxooo

Dear sweet family, meaning, mama, papa and baby. I haven't commented for years for have been regularly checking the blog for those periods of time. I just wanted to say that I still ADORE checking in and seeing what all of you are up to. Alicia, your contributions to all that you love are so precious. Your sweet little Amelia is thriving in such a blessed and fortunate way. Her hands (and her adorable clothes) get dirty on a regular basis, exploring and playing in your beautiful home and surroundings. You're neighborhood reminds me of the ones we grew up in. I'm just waiting to see Amelia skating down the street in her shoe skates with her skate key around her neck. It's that vintage and sentimental to me. You're back yard is looking amazing and ready for some wonderful summer nights and new memories. How do you manage to keep up with it all? Can we bottle us up some Alicia magic dust? I want some! I'd love to hear Amelia sing us a campfire song this summer. Any ideas?? The recipes are some of my favorites, since I'm not very crafty. I always focus on the food and the vibe of the home and the outdoor areas. It's part of being Italian, right? Love you all. The papa dog pile is just a tiny part of the soft place to fall there!!
