Best New Year's gift ever: We woke up to snow early on Sunday morning, and Andy had the whole day off! Nothing can compare to this, for me. I dream of it. To watch our daughter playing in the snow in her own yard, on her own street, and in her own park is just beyond-words wonderful. It was so much fun. It was just one day, but oh, it was the best day. I'll never forget it.

***Yep, she's a sled dog. :)

Happy and creative new year to you and your dear family! Evelyne from France

The beauty, the joy, and the wonder of snow - no matter the age! Love it! I grew up in snow (Michigan) and have very fond memories. Fun times! Read "Snowflake Bentley" (she may be a little young), but a great book - I read it to my grandsons, ages 5/6 and then we made crystal snowflakes for the tree. This was last year and they still talk about it - we'll have to do it again this year. Thanks for sharing the delight of your snow!

Love the snow pictures. Living in south Florida, never have weather like that. Happy New Year to you and yours and wishing you a happy and healthy 2016.

What is that delicious looking broccoli and mushroom dish?

Love her smile and those pink cheeks!

I love that someone put cones in the street so kids could use it as a sledding hill. So cool! The photo of someone (I don't think Amelia) enjoying their reflection in the Christmas ball was great. But if you don't mind, I think that close up of branch after branch of green with white snow may become my computer wallpaper.

Love Andy's hat. Winter at last even if for only one day.

The joy you share warms all of our hearts! So very Happy for you and your sweet family! Wishing you and yours a Wonderful 2016!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures and stories!

Magical! Your precious girl gets cuter by the day :-)

Happy New Year to Your and Yours!

PS Thank you so very much for turning me onto the Avett Brothers! I am such a fan now and don't know how I lived without them in my life all these years :-)

* more cute :-)

That is real joy. I'm happy for you.

Doing some catching up here! Love all the pictures - always a pleasure seeing you and your beautiful family!

I love the little snowman! There is a 1955 children's picture book that you should check out, called The Summer Snowman:
http://www.amazon.com/The-Summer-Snowman-Gene-Zion/dp/B000GRPDLS.
Knowing your love for good picture books, I think you'd enjoy it - especially what they do with their "little snowman"!!

Be well!

Hi Alicia, Love your blog! Here's a veggie side dish idea...The other night I roasted cauliflower tossed in extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper-450 degree oven for about 15 minutes (but my 80 year old oven temp. is wonky so timing may be off and I like my veggies on the crisp side)....inspired by Pinterest. I cored the cauliflower and cut "steaks" out of it as opposed to separating it into florets. The result was TO DIE FOR! Again, love your blog all the way here in Pasadena, California.
