Calicozy ComfyQuilt Top Kits Now Available! SOLD OUT

UPDATE: Thank you beyond words to everyone who ordered and tried to order today. We sold through 2,266 strips of fabric today in minutes. I am speechless and mildly catatonic right now, and am very sorry that not everyone was able to get a kit. I know that some people are very disappointed, and that is never, ever my intention. Please know that I do hear you and am so grateful for your efforts, and we will definitely be making some more. Thank you so, so much.

XOXOX, Alicia

Recently I decided to make myself a throw quilt out of my very favorite calicos from the 1980s and 1990s โ€” tiny, charming floral prints from my childhood and early adulthood that remain, for me, the epitome of fabric sweetness. It turned out to be so pretty that I began collecting similar vintage fabrics so that I could offer quilt-top kits, along with a pattern, to make a quilt-comforter like mine.

This quilt is set on-point, so the square patches actually display as diamonds. It is designed to be turned inside out instead of bound, tied at each patch intersection, and filled with a poufy, inexpensive comforter from Ikea (though you can use batting, if you like). The Ikea comforter can be purchased both at the Ikea store and on-line.

Please note that these sizes are smaller than standard quilts or comforters. Modeled after old-fashioned eiderdowns, this quilt is meant to sit mostly on top of your mattress, and doesnโ€™t have a long overhang.

The approximate finished sizes are: Toddler 42" x 58" (107cm x 147cm); Throw 58" x 58" (147cm x 147cm); Twin 58" x 80" (147cm x 203cm); Full/Queen 80" x 80" (203cm x 203cm); King 101" x 80" (257cm x 203cm).

To make the Calicozy ComfyQuilt, you will need to purchase the Calicozy ComfyQuilt PDF pattern, available only as a digital download, HERE.

And then if you are interested, you can purchase a quilt-top kit (please note that the kits are for the TOP ONLY) in one of several colorways, shown below. Click on each image to be taken to my web shop where you may purchase a kit for one of five sizes.

Please note that the virtual tops shown here are an approximation of the prints and solids you will receive with this quilt-top kit. The kit you receive will include vintage cotton calicos and non-vintage cotton solid fabrics already cut for you into 4.25" (11cm) strips. Because these print fabrics are vintage and available in limited supply, you may not receive every fabric pictured, but you will receive 15 unique fabrics that are consistent with the overall colorway presented. Each kit includes enough fabric to make the top for each quilt size as described. I believe that all of the print fabrics are vintage, and 100% cotton, but I can't absolutely guarantee it.

We do ship overseas! To place your order, you will be required to read this information, which contains details about international shipping and customs fees you may incur when ordering outside the U.S. (If you are overseas, the shipping cost charged by Posie does not include any further charges you may incur when importing goods.) To see the shipping-only costs for your order and location, just place the items in your cart and choose your location (or enter your zip code, if you are in the U.S.) and it will tell you how much the shipping is. As usual, I have a sincere request: Please check on and update your shipping address correctly in your Paypal preferences so that there is no confusion when we go to ship. If you do need to add things to your order or change your address after you've placed the order, just email me and we'll figure it out, no worries! I just like to remind people of this ahead of time, because it's a bit easier.

Also, because the inventory is a bit of a moving target this time -- how many kits in any size we can sell depends on how many kits in other sizes we sell, as there is a total number of prints available for each colorway, and I will be babysitting the numbers to adjust inventory offerings in real time โ€” we will refund shipping overages (if there are any) on an individual basis, after everything has shipped.

Thank you, as always, for your enthusiasm for and interest in my work and in these kits. I have never done a kit quite like this before and I am very excited about this!

If you have any questions, leave them in the comments and I will get back to you here. Thank you!

Do you think it would be crazy to think about hand sewing this? I am a beginner and don't have a machine...
Thank you as always! They are beautiful!!

Four minutes and I went to check-out and everything was already sold out. I am so sad. :(

I'm so excited about this! I'm going to use the pattern to teach my 10 year old daughter how to quilt. We've loved your kits and patterns for such a long time; it seems fitting that it's your pattern we're going to use for her to start quilting! :)

Wow! These are so lovely. I was really looking forward to getting one, but the colors I had my eye on sold out in less than 6 minutes. :(

I was wondering if some of the the kit sizes are really sold out it hasn't been 10 minutes yet, I was in the process of checking out and some items sold out already before I could complete the order....
But I got a chance to purchase ONE....I'm so happy:)
Thank you!

Well that was disappointing.

I'm soooo sad. It was 9:35 (5 min after they were to go on sale) and completely sold out.
But happy for you : )

So sad they're gone :*(

I'm really disappointed.....I was online as you were updating your website. As soon as I saw the Wild Rhubarb colorway, I quickly selected the size, added it to the cart and started typing in my info to order it. When I went to select my shipping options, I rec'd a message saying that there was an "inventory issue". So I went back an selected another size...same thing happened "SOLD OUT". This is crazy......I'm not interested in participating in a feeding frenzy with the items being sold out even faster that I can type. Isn't there a better way to handle this? I feel like I was ready and still lost out. It's really a turn off.

I clicked right in at 1230 and by the time I clicked on my choice everything was sold out in minutes!! So sad not to get any size at all! I did buy the pattern.Thank you for pattern and at least I can make one from other fabrics. Thanks for the inspiration!

You sell out faster than a speeding bullet! Congratulations!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽˆ

Oh man!!! That was crazy fast. So sad I couldn't get one

Wow! Instant sell out! Congratulations! I'm just thrilled to get the .pdf! Can't wait to get started! Thanks again, Alicia! :)

I just had to laugh...less than 10 minutes in and sold out! Congratulations!

Wow Missy, all gone already!! Got me a pattern anyway!

So happy for you and those who were able to purchase in time! These will be gorgeous quilts to snuggle in!

Well, these were a hit!!! I've had reminders set on my phone, and, this morning, sat at my computer refreshing your site for 10 minutes before the sale started not wanting to miss this. As soon as the sale went live, I checked the measurements to decide between queen and king, and poof! When I went to order, ALL sizes of the quilt top I wanted were sold out! My husband will be happy. I won't be buying another pile of fabric and another project today! :) :(

These were truly beautiful. They reminded me of my 80's prairie wedding, and the quilt I'd chosen had a fabric in it that was almost the same as our flower girl dresses. Yesterday, I even got out my fabric scraps from our wedding to check against your fabrics. Sooo fun to reminisce! I'm hoping you offer these kits again. I can imagine they were a great amount work to gather the fabrics and assemble. I'm so happy for you that they're going so fast, but so sad for me.

Wow, congratulations! You've inspired me to use your pattern and shop
my stash. In the meantime, I've taken screenshots of my 3 favorites or your kits so I can have the pleasure of looking at any time I want. Meadowsweet is so perfectly named, takes me to a Jane Austen novel or to tea with the women of Downton Abbey. But really, they're all wonderful!

So sad I missed the colors I wanted before they sold out! Though it sounds like it would've been pretty dicey to score anyway. Really happy for you Alicia, these are beautiful and it shows how much hard work you poured into them. Just gorgeous, as always! Happy Spring to you and yours! xo

I've checked your website everyday throughout the day. As soon as you listed, they all sold out!! Looks like a few bought them up. The rest of us missed out!

I'm smiling. So happy for you. I suspected these would sell out fast. I didn't buy, but thank you for the dear, dear inspiration.

NOOOOOOOO ! I was on it right on time waiting and by the time I completed my purchase, an inventory purchase message popped up saying it was already sold out..... How is that possible as you click to purchase it and you are on it, it means that it cannot be sold to someone else unless my time is out to complete my order. So sad ! At least I managed to purchase the PDF download.
